Earning Money From My Site

Hi all,
I’ve had my wordpress site for just over two years now, and I’m looking for the best way to earn some money from my site. I have had over 100,000 views for five consecutive months, but I’m not sure of the best/most effective way to earn money through advertising-whether it be google ad sense or WordPressAds. I think it would be more beneficial to earn per views on my site, rather than per click on adverts, but equally I don’t want the adverts to become too distracting and detract from my content as I’ve worked hard to build up a loyal readership. If you a free site on the free plan WordPress.COM advertising will appear on it, and no you do not share in an advertising revenue from that.

The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains that have enough traffic to qualify for acceptance into the plan.

Thanks for your reply mate. I think WordAds is the most applicable option for me because I have enough traffic to qualify for acceptance. I will need to create my own domain however. On average I get around 3,000 views per day. Do you have any rough idea/estimate on how much I could earn per day with views such as this? Thanks in advance!

There is no pat answer to that question because the answer is complex and determined by the nature of your content, the advertisers who choose to advertise on your site, the number of impressions and rate set for impressions by each advertiser, the countries those who create impressions, come from … etc.

You will need tens of thousands of views a month to make any meaningful income with advertising. Online advertising rates have dropped severely the past few years, so you really need high traffic to make it worthwhile. The amount you are paid also varies based on where your viewers are from, especially US vs non-US.
If you have several thousand US views a month, you should be able to break even and even show some profit over a year on the Premium Plan, but it’s impossible to guarantee that or to accurately predict your income.
