Ease in moving from one plan to another
-
I want to start a WordPress site for my business that has not actually started yet. If I don’t have traffic yet, and want to start with 2-3 basic pages, pehaps add a blog page (again, no traffic yet) where can I start without a lot of cash outlay, and how easy will it be to move from (Free, Personal, or Premium) to a Business plan (paying $40. monthly)? ALSO, I have several domains with NameCheap, one with Squarespace, and another with GoDaddy. Can these easily be utilized for my WordPress site?
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Hi there,
Sounds like your needs are pretty simple for the moment, and in that case I’d make the following recommendations:
- If you are happy to use an existing theme template for now and do not need much customization, you can start with the Personal Plan, which will turn off the ads we show on free sites, for a more professional look.
- If you plan to use your theme as a starting point, but want the ability to customize it and set your own branding colors, we recommend the Premium Plan, which also includes live chat support that is a huge help as you have questions along the way.
ALSO, I have several domains with NameCheap, one with Squarespace, and another with GoDaddy. Can these easily be utilized for my WordPress site?
It is not possible to use a custom site address on free sites (they need to use the “wordpress.com” address) but either of the upgrades I mention above will allow you to use your existing domains as the address for the site you set up here.
Additionally if you choose the “yearly” option for any of the plans above, it includes a free domain transfer, as well as 1 free year of domain registration once the transfer is complete, which pushes your domain renewal date out on more year.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Oops, one thing I forgot to add is that you can start with any plan and if you decide down the road you want to move up to a higher plan, we will credit the remaining value of your current plan so that you do not have to pay full cost.
For example if you start on the Personal plan and move to the Premium plan, we would charge you the difference in cost between the two plans instead of full price.
Let us know if you need further assistance or if you have any questions.
