Easy/ seamless transfer of content and domain to other host?
-
It appears as if having a blog hosted at WordPress.com would grant me all the features I currently envision needing. I would use/upgrade to a custom domain name (christophercorreis.com).
However, should I find at some point that I want the additional features and flexibility of using the software from WordPress.org, am I correct in assuming that I could then purchase other hosting and do a relatively easy and seamless transfer of both the blog (content and design) and domain name to the other host using the WordPress.org software?
Also, (though I don’t see why), if I were to want to completely change blogging software at some point, can the WordPress.com (or .org software) content be exported to other blogging software?
Thanks for your answers!

Simple answer: Yes and no :)
More convoluted answer: Take a look in the FAQ about exporting and importing. Basically, you can easily export your content (posts, comments, etc) but not the design. Most of the themes here are available for WordPress.ORG but the themes have been modified for use here. So there will be differences if you go to self-hosting. And whether or not those themes are available for some other blogging platform is another whole question.
