You’ve got two options.
Your best bet is to upload the images to your media library and then insert them in the correct location individually. Your other option would be to use Scribd:

I did try uploading the Power Point file unsuccessfully. I tried individual Power Point slides via “upload images”, and as an insert to Word (after Word was loaded on WordPress no success either)
It seemed like WordPress was grabbing the Word text(fine), but only PowerPoint filename. It would not grab PowerPoint portion (as part of Word doc) as an image or a link, only as a filename.

Right, that won’t work.
You’ll need to use Scribd in order to do what you want to do I’m afraid:
