Ecommerce site beginners guide on how to set it up what are the total costs?

  Help! I am new to wordpress. I would like to set up an ecommerce site on wordpress.com. I need a beginners step-by-step guide on where to start – how build / set-up an ecommerce site. What are the total costs. The functionality and features of each of the ecommerce site templates / themes- so that I can make an informed decision on which template suites our requirements.

  A beginner’s step by step guide to setting up ecommerce is the kind of thing you can expect to pay a lot of money for.

  Ecommerce at WordPress.com is quite limited. These are your options here, and they are only available for people with the $299 business bundle: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/ecommerce-is-now-available-on-wordpresscom?replies=1

  Note that you can only sell items you yourself produce. You cannot retail things manufactured by someone else. That’s against the terms of service here.

  If you really want to run ecommerce, you would be better off taking a course or reading a book about it, then buying web hosting elsewhere and installing software from WordPress.org. That is much more configurable, but you have to know what you’re doing as you are responsible for all your own tech support.

  You have a restaurant. What kind of ecommerce were you going to be doing?

  Hi Raincoaster….Many Thanks for your advice. :-)
  The restaurant is only a “test” that I did in wordpress -“to check it-out”.
  We manufacture children’s home decor products and would like to start an ecommerce site using word press.

  Okay, well, if you want to host it here then follow the link above. My advice is to take the second option. Buy WordPress for Dummies, which is a pretty good book, and build your own site on independent hosting. It’s just more flexible.
