edin theme feature suggestion / request

    Hi

I have just changed my portfolio site’s theme to edin, which I think is brilliant for this purpose: it’s flexibility and clean, modern design is great.

My site is structured as a series of nested pages using grid and wide page themes, which works great.

My question is would you consider making the READ MORE links an optional customisation feature. The main reason is that on a photo or art portfolio site, there’s usually no text to keep reading, so it looks a bit strange. I think it works fine when there are several lines of text under a feature image. I’ve been adding text quotes to my galleries just to make the links seem logical. Secondly, given that you can hover over and click on the image or heading to access the full post/gallery, the READ MORE link seems redundant. If this doesn’t seem a reasonable request, would you consider changing the link to MORE or SEE MORE? This would be more fitting to an image heavy site.

My referred to site is: http://basilimobilephotographs.wordpress.com

Thanks for listening and for creating such a cool theme.

    Hi again

I’ve noticed a couple of things to do with padding and white space.

First, when looking at my site on a smartphone (iPhone 5), the front page featured image and text overlay positioning looks wrong. The page title is aligned left (which works well), sits on 2 lines and is positioned just above the bottom of the image. The spacing between the lines also looks a bit much for a 2 line text set. If I make it a one line title, it still sits at the bottom of the image.

On all other pages with feature images, the page title text (one line) is centred vertically and horizontally and this works well. The image on the front page seems to crop a lot narrower than the other pages.

Secondly, when the site is viewed on an iPad in portrait view, the thumbnails space to a single column (which is a good idea) but I think there’s too much margin space left and right. Images look insignificant as compared to the mobile phone layout which has nice margins. The left alignment of page titles also makes the layout look wrong as there’s too much distance between the position of a one word title and the image it supports.

I don’t know if there’s a CSS code workaround for these or if they need to be coded by the developer/s.

I’m quibbling here, coz overall I really like the theme, the options it offers and the way it works.
