    Hi there,

    In order to get your blog to look like the demo site, you’ll need to use the different page templates the them offers. This page about your new theme explains how to do that:

    http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/edin/

    If you get stuck along the way, please come back to the forums and let us know which step is giving you trouble and we’ll be happy to help get you out of the mud :)

    Hi there, I’m on Edin theme. Can anyone help me with how to make the logo smaller – so it is aligned with menu icon?

    This is my wordpress: http://3hadvisor.wordpress.com/

    Thanks!

    Do you have the custom design upgrade? If so, you can change how the image appears using the following CSS.

    .site-logo{
        max-height: 70px !important;

    }

    Even if you don’t have the upgrade you should also be able to create a version of your logo that is 70px tall and upload it under “site title” That should have basically the same effect, and you don’t need the upgrade to do it.

    Great the CSS worked! Thanks for your help

    Also would you know how to change the grey colour at the bottom of the page to one of my liking through custom design?

  • Unknown's avatar

    sorry one last thing: do you know how i can make my posts (as shown on edin theme) with thumbnail and read more? Do I do it through posts or pages? at the moment they just don’t show up.. any idea? It’s taking me a while figure this out

    Here’s how to change the color of your footer area. I picked a random hex code that turned out to be a green color, but if you replace the hex color with the one you want you should be set.

    .footer-widget-area{
        background-color: #456124 !important
    }

    To get the sections to which you refer to appear you’ll need to use the featured tag for some of your posts. It doesn’t look like you’ve created any posts or pages yet, so it’s difficult to give you specific advice, but this
    page tells you all about how your theme works: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/edin/

    If you do have pages that you’ve created, and they just aren’t showing anywhere, including the menu, try setting up your custom menus like this: http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

    Hope that helps!

    Hi, does anyone know how to get the front page template to look like the demo?

    The “read more” links are not working; it is displaying almost all the text from the child page.

    Also if I have more than 3 child pages, how do I get these to appear under the first 3, like the demo?

    Additionally (!) when I use the settings>reading option to set my blog page as posts, this doesn’t appear in the grid on the front page template despite selecting it to do so.

    Help??!!

    Site is: gjcresourcing.wordpress.com

    Hi litzthefair and thanks for your feedback,
    i have been through the link you have provided me but i still have the same issue.

    i have defined a front page
    i have created 3 page with “grid template” defined as attribute
    Into the menu “setting–>reading” i have selected “frontpage displays a static page” and elected the frontpage and one of my grid template page.

    Finally i went to the “Appearance–>customize” menu and i have selected one created page per listbox.

    You have the final output here

    Thank you in advance for your help,

    Best regardsn

    Hi, I am wondering if anyone has any answers on how to incorporate a logo for this theme in a self-hosted site? I checked wordpress.org for answers before coming here, but ppl are having the same issue. I would like to display the logo instead of the site title. I don’t see the option anymore in the .org version. Thank you in advance. :-)

    @ jarvisdesouza I’m going to do my best to help, but I believe you may be using some workarounds that I don’t completely understand, so it might take a couple rounds for me to help you get things sorted.

    I believe you have skipped using the featured pages option on your front page and are instead just using the front-page widgets. If that is working for you, great. If you’d like the page to look more like the demo, read on.

    If you’d like the first row on your front page to link to pages on your site, you can achieve that by going to your customize menu and choosing the three pages you want to see there under “theme options.” Then your second row of content comes from front-page widgets (which you are using now and seem to understand well)
    There is no way to do more than three featured pages with the front page template (as you’ll see here: http://edindemo.wordpress.com/).

    The pages that link to more than 3 pages use the grid template: http://edindemo.wordpress.com/page-templates/grid-page/. You could use a grid page as your front page instead of the front page template, but I don’t think that will work out the way you want it to.

    Could you try setting up your front page with the three featured pages you’d like to appear so I can see what that looks like? Then let me know what’s not working for you and we can adjust from there.

    @obabind I’m going to do my best to help, but I believe you may be using some workarounds that I don’t completely understand, so it might take a couple rounds for me to help you get things sorted.

    1) Make sure the page you set your posts to go to page with the “default template” Giving your posts page the “grid” template is causing part of your problem.

    2) Could you send me the links to the pages you linked in featured box 1 and featured box 2? I’m seeing blank pages linked there, but I’m not sure if they are blank because you haven’t added content yet, or because they are not linked correctly.

    Let’s see where we are after you make those changes and we’ll work on the next steps.

    @dolailee I’m sorry to hear you are having trouble with this theme on your self-hosted site, but we really can’t help you here. The way the theme works on WordPress.COM is different than on self-hosted sites, and the people who answer questions here can’t really help with self-hosted questions. Sorry!

    1) Make sure the page you set your posts to go to page with the “default template” Giving your posts page the “grid” template is causing part of your problem.

    It is now done, i have selected the “default template”

    I’m seeing blank pages linked there, but I’m not sure if they are blank because you haven’t added content yet, or because they are not linked correctly.

    i confirm to you that theses pages are blank, regarding the “linked correctly” i have done nothing , what i would like to have is just my posts (which are actually linked to the post page) to be displayed like in the demo

  • Unknown's avatar

    @obabind–gottcha, thanks for clarifying.

    I’m afraid posts cannot be displayed on the front page “featured” area as those areas are specifically created to display pages (posts vs pages)

  • Unknown's avatar

    @lizthefair ok , it’s a pity as it was more or less the display/layout i was looking for.
    I’m going to see if i can find something similar.
    Thank you very much for your help and all the informations provided !!!
