Edit a category's slug

    Hello wp.

I created a new category called “Chess” under the parent category “Games”.

However it’s slug created a different url for this category as /games/chess-games/…

…Instead of the simply expected /games/chess/ … which would follow suit to how all other sub cats have so far been url’d.

Please can you tell me how to edit a category’s slug so its url is as desired?

    Thanks,
    Simon

It might simply be the way WordPress.com creates URLs for child categories, including the parent in the child slug. WordPress.org websites have access to category slugs, but WordPress.com websites evidently do not.
Interestingly, when I attempted to visit a hypothetical category page with the URL https://ofsorcerers.wordpress.com/category/games/chess, I was redirected to https://ofsorcerers.wordpress.com/tag/chess/, but this may be normal as well, redirecting to the closest match.
