Since I have to accept cookies twice the edit button doesn’t work anymore.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Mahuus,

Please see if the following solutions work for you:

Please log out of your account, and clear your browser cache and cookies.

Also, make sure third party cookies are enabled in your browser.

    Solve Common Browser Issues

Then log back in and try again.

There is another post which discusses the same issue:
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/the-edit-button-on-my-about-page-is-not-working/

    Thanks
    Yashita

    Hi Yashita,

I logged out of my account, cleared the browser cache and cookies. And I made sure that third party cookies are enabled. Nothing changed. I tried firefox and IE.

Then I checked the other post. This edit button problem was never solved.

This means: I can’t edit my texts anymore. Nevermind: there are lots of other things
    to do: like reading books.

    Thanx for your given solutions.

    yours

  • Mahuus – Is this happening on your own site or one that you are trying to visit? You shouldn’t need to accept the privacy cookie statement when working through your WordPress.com dashboard.

Please list out the steps you’re taking so I can try to better understand what is happening here. It’d also be helpful to know the following –

    1. browser version numbers tried
    2. operating system type and version
    3. is it happening on a different internet connection?
    4. does it happen on multiple devices?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi lizkarkoski,

    1. Browser version numbers
    a) Firefox Quantum 61.0.1
    b) Microsoft Edge 42.17134.1.0

    2. Windows 10. Version 1803 (Build 17134.112)

    3. Other Internet sites I use make no problems.

    4. I only access the Internet with my computer.

All the buttons on the right bottom don’t work:
    – customize – edit – stats

The cookies message goes away after one click for me but the action bar bottom right of your site is unresponsive. Usually I can click the three dots to see what theme is being used.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Exactly, that’s the problem:

The cookies message goes away after one click for me but the action bar bottom right of your site is unresponsive.

Hi @mahuus, I investigated this issue on your site and found what is causing the problem, and I’m talking with our developers to see if this is a theme bug or a bug with the cookie widget code.

I’ll post back here when we figure out what is causing the issue.

    Howdy,

As @thesacredpath and I have been able to replicate this I’ve reported this to the theme folks for review. You can follow along here:
    https://github.com/Automattic/themes/issues/197

In our testing, this does seem to be specific to your theme, Cubic.

In between I finished reading “George Orwell – A Life” by Bernard Crick. The next book to read will be “Penelope Fitzgerald – A Life” by Hermione Lee. Take your time folks :-)

  • Appreciate your kindness and patience :)

  • Unknown's avatar

I started to read the biography on Penelope Fitzgerald. But then I made a break to read “Frontgebiete“ by Bettina Gaus, which I have finished today. Besides I checked the first pages of the biography „Jonathan Swift – His Life and his World“ by Leo Damrosch. However, now I will continue with the book on Penelope Fitzgerald.

Update to the update: The book by Bettina Gaus is called “Frontberichte”.

  • @mahuus I just thought I’d add, in the meantime you can head over to wordpress.com/posts and edit there, since that page does not use your theme.

    Cheers!

    Hi supernovia,

wouldn’t it be a good idea that I delete my account and open a new one.
It seems to me that the edit-button problem will end “unresolved”. As in the
    case of another wordpress user.

  • Please don’t delete your account, no. This issue has nothing to do with your account, but is a problem with the theme you’re using on your site. Deleting your account will not fix this, but only cause you to lose the use of your current username and site address.

You can edit all posts on your site by going to My Site ->Blog Posts as well, and if you view a single post like https://sherlockgosig.wordpress.com/2018/06/17/the-afterworld/ there’s another Edit link at the bottom that you can also use – the edit button in the action bar is not the only way to do this.

    Hi kokkieh,

Thank you for your very useful post. I found the additional edit possibility.
The other one I don’t need anymore :-)

    Hi kokkieh,

This post doesn’t belong here. However, I didn’t find another place to post it.

I have a flickr account for pics. But I don’t use it anymore. Flickr belongs to yahoo. And yahoo is now part of the so called “Oath-family“. If I want to carry on using my flickr account I have to agree that they are allowed to spy on my Internet acitivities, to analyze my E-Mails and so on. No way. WordPress might be an alternative. Where can I found out how much storage space I will get and what it will cost?
