edit error in post caused trainwreck on site

    Here’s hoping it’s an easy fix…
I went in to edit another [audio] link into a post and saw that the text I had cut and paste into the post had extra code which seemed to me to be throwing off the formatting of the post originally (but I kind of liked the block quote looking aspect so I’d left the formatting to accident).

After editing the extra code out and saving in the new audio, a brief visit to the site revealed my error in judgment.

I’ve got the original source code saved in Firefox Scrapbook extension, but I’m unable to locate that specific chunk of code to edit back in…

    two questions:
    1. if I were to delete the fouled post, would everything go back as it should be?

    2. is there a way to reload the source from my saved version without upgrading to CSS editing capabilities? (I’m just plain impoverished and clearly new to this!)

    Thank you!

    and…
further apologies and a thanks to any who may have considered my error.
one witty little [/div] had stuck in there – once removed, all went back to being fun again.

I’m not clear. Did you fix the problem? If not, can we have a direct link to the post in question?

  • There’s an easy way to avoid problems like this: go to the Settings / Writing tab of your blog. Check the box that says “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and Save Changes.

Thank you for following up for clarity’s sake. Yes, the problem was fixed by my discovery of the extra code I’d left behind when the error was first posted about. I hadn’t included the direct link to a post because the first (and only) page of the site was the problem.

    And,

Thank you for pointing the way to the Writing tab’s solution for possible (ok, probable…) future bumbling around.

    I appreciate your responses.
