Edit Function

Date – Monday 28th. February 2022
For the last week or so I have not been able to undertake the ‘EDIT FUNCITION’ in Classic. I am offered, as in the past, the facility of ‘Edit Image’ I undertake the procedure, as normal, but when I click the ‘DONE’ the unedited image returns on the screen and ‘WE WERE UNABLE TO PROCESS THIS MEDIA ITEM’ So no possibility to crop, flip or rotate the image. I have to say that to date there has been no problem up until this time.
Can anyone be of help?

Does that happen regardless of what media item you try to add? And, are you able to add that media item here, directly?

Firstly may I thank you for your reply.
I have to say that Image Media is the only one used by myself on all the WordPress Sites. So it is possible to upload images, as before, directly to the sites from the camera, it is only when I attempt to edit them that I have the problem as described above.
I do trust this in some way answers your questions?!

Ok, first please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I have now undertaken, with the help of a computer friend, all the suggestions that you recommended as above, but I still have to say that this has not offered any improvement/solution to the ‘problem’!!!!
In the computer friends words, ‘it would seem to be an ‘internal’ WordPress problem.’
I myself also would seem to have my own feelings in that direction!?
Maybe I could ask you for your own comments.

Thanks for verifying things are working on your end – that helps!
It looks like you may be experiencing a bug that we’re already aware of and are trying to fix.
However, for now you’ll need to make any edits you want to your image before you upload it.
For simple edits like cropping or resizing you can use the built-in photo viewing apps on Windows and Mac, you can use an online tool like https://pixlr.com/, or you can install the free photo editor, GIMP, so you don’t need expensive tools like Lightroom or Photoshop in order to do this.
Otherwise we’ll let you know when this has been fixed. We have no ETA or timeline when this will be fixed, so we aren’t able to advise exactly when to expect this to be resolved.
