Edit function is missing

sensuouscurmudgeon, I’m also using the Coraline theme and it has an edit button at the top of the published post and at the end after the tags.
I’m glad the Edit button has returned, however, I am not comfortable with the statement that it may be eliminated in the future.
This is a necessary function to blogging. It must remain.
-
The old stats page no longer tells you how many people actually visited your site. Just the total number of views. I need to get serious about finding a new home for my blog. I can’t deal with this kind of nonsense.
They pushing us out. Why? I don’t get it.
-
galois and musicdoc1, you must be viewing a post or page on a blog where you have rights in order to see the edit link. Can you double check to make sure that’s where you’re looking?
dandelionsalad, the Edit link will be moved later—it won’t be removed completely from what I understand.
teepee12, click the “visitors” link at the bottom of the graph to see those stats.
A lot of changes are happening really fast right now. I’m sorry it’s disruptive for you guys! Changes are going to keep happening, and our support team will do our best to help you through those changes the best we can.
-
teepee12, are you viewing the old Stats page with the map located at https://wordpress.com/my-stats? I can see both views and visitors.
On the classic, really old Stats page there never was a feature to show both views and visitors. That Stats page is located through the classic Dashboard.
designsimply, so the Edit button will be moved again? It makes no sense. As I mentioned in other comments on this issue, this is a much necessary function for blogging.

@designsimply where is the edit function in the dropdown menu?

None of my links will take me to that site anymore. If I click Site Stats, I get a version without the visitor count. The center darker bar in the bar chart is gone.
If I click Stats on the dropdown menu, I get to the new stats page, and if I then click on the “take me back to old stats page,” the visitor count is STILL MISSING.
If I click on one of the bars, I still don’t get the actual visitor information, or the useful data about how many posts each visitor opened … OR the map.
Clicking “enhanced stats” takes me to the NEW stats page with all its limitations and lack of data.
The only way to get the the useful stats page is to click on one of the
bars on the bar chart, THEN click “return to stats.” Everything else sends me a stats page with the vital data stripped out, or the new stats page which never had the vital data in the first place.Congratulations. If your intent was to get me to find another platform, you have succeeded. I’ve really been trying to find a way to stay with WordPress if for no better reason than it will take more effort than I want to expend to move … but clearly you don’t want me or people like me.
I don’t know who you DO want. Do YOU know who you want? If you don’t want experienced bloggers with large followings … what’s your goal? High school kids who think it might be fun to try blogging for a week or two? Tweeters who want more than 140 characters? Ranters from Facebook for a bigger space? Do you have a goal? Or are you doing this because someone thinks having a particular “look” is cool and you don’t care whether or not it works?

Oh, and clicking on the graph in the menu bar? New stats page.
View All still works — sometimes. But I’m sure that’s merely an oversight. Probably will be gone by tomorrow. After all, it is useful, functional, so you will need to eliminate it in favor of something stupid that looks better.

If WP did not make changes that users do not want and did not ask for, these problems would not be happening.
I don’t want to be “helped” through the changes. I don’t want the changes to happen.

So true and so sad – the Android App just had the stats “upgraded” to the new brain dead stats – the only thing the App will be used for anymore is the reader when I am not at my desk –
-
teepee12, you need to bookmark the old Stats page that you use with the views/visitors and map. Link: https://wordpress.com/my-stats
The only place I’ve found that link to be located is “View All” on the classic Dashboard in the Stats module. Like you said, it could all be gone/moved tomorrow, and probably will be. Or eliminated entirely.

The screenshot you made was the classic, really old Stats page. That is the one I prefer actually and the only one I use daily.
The one you want to find/use is located at the link in my above comments. Bookmark it.
I don’t use that one because it’s too-blue for my eyes.

@ designsimply,
you must be viewing a post or page on a blog where you have rights in order to see the edit link.
I am the lone administrator on each of my websites. However, I was looking for the edit tab while at a post editor, rather than from the public view of the post. The edit tab is visible, I now see, on the public view of the post.
-
@ galois,
where is the edit function in the dropdown menu?
It’s clearly not there in the screen shot you provided. It should be below the comments tab.
-
I should give up. This is becoming too stressful, unsatisfying. Too much like work. All the fun is getting sucked out of it. Why bother? I’m really sorry I invested in premium stuff that is being rendered worthless. Eventually another platform will emerge, but I think it will be too late for me.

@musicdoc1: see this comment (@lizthefair)
I wanted to let you know we’ve added the link back to the dropdown menu for now.
