Edit Menu isn't working.

    I need to make a few changes to existing menus, but can’t do it. The ‘Select a menu to edit’ line simply does not appear when I go to Appearance/Menus/Edit Menus. All I see is the option to CreateMenu. Do I have a limited version of WordPress? Is there a lock that needs to be unset? I’m logged in as an Administrator.
    I’ve tried using Chrome and Firefox, with the same unsatisfactory result.

    Hi cnjersey,

    It sounds like you’re working from the WP Admin dashboard. Do you have the same experience from the “My Sites” dashboard (also called Calypso) that you see when you log in to WordPress.com?

    To check, please log in and make sure you’re on the dashboard for the site you are editing.

    Next to Themes, click Customize
    Then click Menus

    Please let me know if you can access your existing menus from there.

    Hi jesscga,
    Yes, I am indeed working from the Admin dashboard. I don’t see any way to get to the “My Sites” dashboard, but if I click on Customize Your Site on the Admin Dashboard, I can then click on Menus. However, that gives a view that doesn’t show any of the menus.

    I don’t need help with cnjersey, which is my personal blog. I’m actually working on a website for my organization, not my personal blog. I can’t figure out why the Appearance/Menus page doesn’t have the Select Menu line that is shown in the EasyWPGuide_WP4.8.pdf on page 113.

    Hi Tom,

    Can you provide the URL of the site you’re working with? That will help us troubleshoot better.

    Is it possible that the site you’re working on is a self-installed version (also known as WordPress.org), and not the hosted version? If that’s the case, it would explain why you can’t access the Calypso (My Sites) page. You can read about the differences between the two here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    If you’re working on a self-installed site, you might have better luck finding answers in their dedicated forum: https://wordpress.org/support/

    Hi Jess,
    thanks again for your efforts, and the suggestions! I’ve managed to solve my problem! Turns out that I don’t see any menus to edit because the site I’m working on doesn’t have any menus!! I feel pretty stupid:-)
