Edit site description
-
Hello everyone,
I wanted to add a description of my blog, WordPress forwarded me to “create a new page” (or similar, the language of my settings is German). This page opened, but I got the error “User cannot edit post”. I was logged in, so what is the reason for this notification and how/where can I add a brief description of my blog?
Thanks in advance, best
MattThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi matthiashogrefe!
Have you tried going to the Dashboard the clicking Appearance > Customize? Most themes allow multiple places where you can add a description to your site.
In addition, you don’t want to edit a post when you want to add a description to your blog. You’ll want to edit a page or a designated description area that your theme offers.
Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Hey, thanks for your answer!
It didn’t really answer my question, but somehow it inspired me to getting to understand how this stuff works, so I figured it out now.
I had to create a new page where I could put the description in it. So thanks again for your help! :-)

We bloggers do not have access to metadata on WordPress.COM blogs. Hence the keywords in our site title and tagline are very important for SEO.
re: changing a site title or tagline
The Site title (blog name) and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General … “save changes”.That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed. Note that the site title (blog name) and blog address URL do not have to be the same but it’s better for SEO (search engine optimization) if they are the same.
