In “Visual” mode, can I add icons to change text font & font size? Currently, I have to enter HTML mode to make changes. (currently there are available icons to make text bold, italic, underline or change text colour).

Currently, there isn’t a button that allows you to change the size of your font in the Visual editor. You’ll need to use the HTML editor to change your post’s font size:

You can also change the font size and style for your entire site with the Custom Fonts upgrade:

I recently agreed to help edit the postings on this blog, thinking the current editors were experiencing problems because they were unfamiliar with navigating the menu options.
However, I find posting a simple text with custom formatting in WordPress to be an exasperating, tedious and time-consuming task. You can’t even change font style & size without resorting to HTML, and adding & subsequently editing photos is a nightmare. Why would anyone wnt to pay for an “Upgrade to Pro” for $99 when the free version is so frustrating and user-unfriendly???

For example, this Support “Leave a Reply” window with [strong] [em] [link] etc. tabs. And below, the instructions “Allowed markup: a blockquote code em strong ul ol li.
You can also put code in between backtick ( ` ) characters.”

For goodness sake, get rid of all this nerdspeak so the average amateur user can actually type you a question! What happened to WYSIWYG? I could do more with a Word Processor on a Commodore 64 in 1983! Welcome to 2012, folks!

  • Outside of HTML, there are some additional formatting tools in the second row of the Visual Editor: http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
