Edit the heading, with the upgrade

How to edit the heading, i.e. make one word italic, add color, etc.?

Hi there, could you please let me know whether you mean your site title (“sandra reflects…”) or the individual blog-post titles (such as “WE ARE, ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!”)
If you’re referring to your site title, it’s not possible to change the formatting of its individual words within it.
If you’re talking about individual blog-post titles, it’s possible to make certain formatting tweaks, but not others. For example, it would be possible to make a word italicized by putting
<em> </em>tags around it, although your current theme already italicizes the whole title. It isn’t possible to add colour to only some words in a post title. If you let me know more specifically what you’re trying to do I’ll be glad to help further. Thanks!

Yes, it’s the blog-post title. I thought with the upgrade I could play around with lettering, color more than it seems I can (although I still have to learn html, etc.). Then, not sure if my theme is more limited than another one, something I still have to explore. I know I can change the heading font, and un-make the italics, etc. but surprised it’s not more freewheeling. Any comments you have on the above will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for clarifying. The Custom Design upgrade allows you to add custom CSS code to change the look and feel of many aspects of your site, by targetting each element. For example, you can target the site title, blog-post title, the text withinposts, all unvisited links, all unvisited links, widget headings, etc.
Because the blog-post title consists of a single element in the code “behind the scenes,” it’s not technically possible to apply different styles to individual words within the post title. This is the same throughout all of WordPress, no matter what theme you’re using.
I hope this helps explain things better. If you have any other questions, just let me know.

Thanks Kathryn, will just have to find the time to learn a little bit about CSS. Lots of resistance which time limits don’t help. But we’ll see. At least I learned how to embed a video today!!
