Edit window showing white text on a white background

  My edit window isn’t working. It shows a white text on a white background. I can select the text using ctrl + A, but I can’t see what I’m doing or insert pictures. The wsiwyg icons are also missing. I’ve read online that updating the theme is how to fix this, but I don’t know how to update the theme. I changed my theme from twenty ten to twenty sixteen, and it still didn’t fix the problem. Can you please tell me how to fix this white-text-white-background issue?
