Editing a gallery in Beep Beep Boop
-
Please try this…..
Add New Post (beep beep boop)
Go into TextMode
Insert a gallery via the shortcode [gallery]
Go into Visual mode.I then see a gallery with 36 pictures taken at random from my media library.
Publish the post. The gallery is empty!
Edit the post (beep beep boop)
Edit the (empty) gallery via the Pencil Icon
Remove one of the gjost pictures
Update the post. The post now contains 35 pictures that I didnt add.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Eureka moment.
While writing this, I have solved the problem in my earlier post in which I reported that Beep Beep Boop hung for several minutes “loading” a gallery.I now realise.
When Beep Beep Boop sees [gallery] it attempts to load every single image in the media library. (I have 12,000 in my primary blog, so no wonder it was taking a long time). The shortcode [gallery] actually denotes a gallery of photos uploaded to the post – not all photos uploaded to the blog!
Please, please dont say that WP are abandoning the old classic Gallery [gallery] in favour of the “new” style gallery [gallery ids="nnn, mmm, ddd, etc"].

Hi there!
Glad you sorted it out!
That’s correct, inserting [gallery] without the “ids” parameter includes all photos attached to the post.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/#gallery-shortcode
However, while creating a new post without any attached images in the new editor, it attempts to load all unattached images to the gallery, which could be a problem if you have a lot of those. This has been reported to our developer team and is awaiting a fix. The classic post editor isn’t affected by this issue.
Please, please dont say that WP are abandoning the old classic Gallery [gallery] in favour of the “new” style gallery [gallery ids="nnn, mmm, ddd, etc"].
There are no plans of abandoning it. :)
