Editing a New Website for Client

    Hello All,

I have a client that currently has a operational WordPress site. I’m not sure if it is a .com or a self-hosted .org. Is there a way to tell? When I login, I use SiteName.com/Admin. I assume this means it is a .com?

I want to create a new site (with a premium theme) without messing up his current site. Do you suggest doing this by creating my own WP account and transferring to his WP account? And if so, how do I do a transfer from one account to another.. will the theme work on both accounts if just bought on one account?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

For more on the difference: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

What is the domain name? / full URL beginning with http & someone can look at it and tell you if it is hosted here – or you can look for the WordPress.COM top gray navigation bar

The login page probably has a link to WordPress.COM if it is hosted here and WordPress.ORG if it is not hosted here (small print for the links)

The wordpress link from the login screen directs me to wordpress.org. Once logged in, in the drop down menu in the top left: “About WordPress” it gives me a link under it to WordPress.org..

Starting to assume maybe it is a .org self-hosted site. I did not realize that both had online back office editors.

The software looks almost identical – if you are and Admin and you can find a “Plugin’s” tab – then it is for sure a WordPress.ORG install as Plugin’s are not allowed on WordPress.COM

Yes, there are currently several plugins installed.. awesome, the site is a .ORG!

Would developing a new site on a different account to later transfer be best if the new account were .ORG or .COM. I was hoping to use a Premium Theme.. or do Premium Themes only work on .COM’s?

Thank you for the help btw, I’m definitely a new user and appreciate all the help I can get.

    You be welcome

The Premium Themes here are designed special for WordPress.COM sites – sometimes a similar theme can be found for use on a WordPress.ORG install
