Please confirm exactly which blog URL you are referring to. You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide screenshots you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

    MARCH 2015

This is my blog, see above. The whole layout has changed when i either add a post or add to a page.. I do not know how to solve this?

  • Unknown's avatar

Okay, the problem is you’re not making blog posts. You’re just editing and adding to a single page. There are so many reasons that’s a bad idea, but you’ve stumbled on the most obvious one; it’s unstable.

Try making blog posts for each gig instead of editing that one page.

Many thanks for your help..I appreciate the difference between a post and a page because i add both to my blog and have been adding to my pages for over 6 months with no problem at all. I am not convinced that this is the problem.
This is going to be very hard to explain but I will try..
When I wanted to add a post or add to a page I went to the stats page and went on to edit it from there, it was from here that the layout has now changed.. BUT..if i go the a new post or page via the WP admin link (also from the original stats page) the editing layout is the same as what I am used to.. There is an option for a switch to an improved posting experience from this editing page which i did click on..Interestingly this takes me to the layout that the other avenue did, this new layout which is horrible.. It would seem that if i want to continue editing in the format i am used to that i have to access the page or post in a different way! It is so confusing and frustrating

You are talking about the New Editor vs the Classic Editor. Yes, there have been a lot of complaints about it.

  • Unknown's avatar

That is so frustrating! I have been painstakingly uninstalling programmes and messing with add ons/plug ins etc as I could not work out why my page had suddenly altered! It’s not good at all!!!
If I wanted a change, I would go looking for one, it took me long enough to figure out my way around this blog lark and then a sudden change like this is thrust upon you without any warning, its not good!
At least I know its not anything ive accidentally pressed or touched! Thats what I thought had happened.. The new editor looks like a mistake, a problem but def not an improved editing system! It’s a nightmare!

    It is indeed, not good.

The approach to change implementation by WP is an interesting one.

Is there any customer engagement at all, prior to change being ‘agreed’ and then implemented?

  • Unknown's avatar

None of us are thrilled with the change except the person(s) who designed it.

It’s not their style to ask for feedback before implementing changes.

  • Unknown's avatar

Well, ive always liked wordpress but have definately had my eyes opened.. There is nothing at all user friendly about this approach, its shocking.. I mean, why would you let the very people that spend hours using this service know about such a radical change!!

    Hi @thelisteningpostblog,

The best solution here would be to bookmark the following URL:

    https://thelisteningpostblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin

That will take you to the Classic Dashboard. From there, you can use the links on the left-hand side of the page to add new posts and pages to your site. Provided you use those links, you shouldn’t get sent to the New Editor.

Outside of your general dislike for the New Editor, could you let me know specifically what elements you aren’t fond of or what specific features you’re missing?

    Hello Jeremy
Thank you so much for writing to me with this very useful information.
I spent hours messing about with wordpress the other eve when I first discovered this new look edit page. I thought I had pressed something wrong or that there was a fault with my computer..it was only after a long time messing about with it and speaking to other people on forums that I discovered what had actually happened.. I even uninstalled skype thinking that the latest update had tampered with my website..
What would be VERY useful is for notifications of these changes as it was very frustrating and stressful to open my wordpress pages to be confronted with this look for no apparent reason.
The page is meant to be improved but I think it looks faulty! There seems to be this massive void of space between the header section and the editing section, you cannot even see both boxes at the same time! What is that all about! Why is a massive blue void of space deemed to be an improvement. I see no improvements either, the settings seem to be the same just all mixed up and switched round (which in itself is highly stressful if you are like me and took ages to familiarise yourself with layout). I’m all up for improvements but changing the whole layout of something you are used to without prior warning is more of a massive hindrance than a help.
I do not like the bitty way the new editing page has, I do not like the fact that i have to scroll halfway down the page before I can even start writing and do not see how this works.
I do, however, appreciate that i can still access the classic layout and will be sure to keep using this as it works for me, it works well and I have spent a lot of time working my way around this, it makes me happy to be able to blog, I do not want to have to master the whole editing process again because the layouts have changed…
Thank you for your help, I really appreciate your advice
    Ruth

Hi Ruth – I’d like to clarify this part:

There seems to be this massive void of space between the header section and the editing section, you cannot even see both boxes at the same time!

The page should look like this:

    http://d.pr/i/14Rhy

If it does not, could you try clearing your cache as explained here?

Help..my page looks nothing like this..their is a void and I have cleared cache I think but it’s still looking the same..

    Hi!

Can you take a screenshot of how your page actually looks and upload that screenshot to your Media Library so I can take a look? Instructions can be found here:

    Take a Screenshot

Also, can you try another browser like Google Chrome?
