I have been trying to edit an article for two days using the free basic version of Word Press. The editing has frozen on numerous occasions. Any suggestions

Usually things like this happen when there is a cookie issue.
Have you already tried the browser troubleshooting suggestions on this page? https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/
Give those a try and if it doesn’t help, post back here with the browser and OS you’re using.
