Editing and Ping questions

  Hi, noob here. Great information abounds but…how does one edit the html in order to add image links?

  This “ping” thing that has been mentioned, how does one activate it?

  Also, is there another way to show recent posts other than “archiving?”

  We cannot edit the underlying templates for our blogs here as we are on a multi-user blogging platform. The FAQs search box is the place to go for instructions for uploading images and creating links. http://faq.wordpress.com/?s=image+links

  Every time you publish a post ping-o-matic will automatically take care of pinging for you. If you wish you can also use pingoat after you publish each post. http://pingoat.com/ There is a Recent Posts widget that you can place in your sidebar.

  Ok, I am totally confused. Like I have been going to http://pingoat.com/ every night and all has been fine. Tonight I got the following after clicking on go pingoat:
  Warning: mysql_connect(): Can’t connect to MySQL server on ‘67.15.4.5’ (111) in /var/www/pingoat.com/web/db_mysql.php on line 34
  Can’t connect to MySQL server on ‘67.15.4.5’ (111)

  I then found a widget and pasted the HTML code:
  <img alt=”pingoat_9.gif” border=”0″ src=”http://out.pingoat.com/pix/pingoat_9.gif”>
  and when I clicked on it to ping my blog I got the same Warning as above.

  What amm I doing wrong? I am at a loss here.

  You’re doing NOTHING wrong. It’s doing that for me too.

  Pingoat is doing a reorganization to include their much-vaunted new service to improve your traffic, and I would assume that they’ll be back up tomorrow.

  oh thank heavens, it is good toknow it isn’t me it is them..I’ll check back with them later. I assume that the widet I’ve used is what they are wanting us to use for pinging in the future……
