Editing and Support Questions

1 – Once I sign up to the business plan and have made my site, if I cancel my plan or downgrade it after a year what happens to my website?
2 – Can more than one person log in on line to work on the website at the same time or can only one person at a time make changes?
3- Can the website be worked on locally (on desktop rather than on a server)?
4 – It looks like I can only get support from the forum’s until I have a plan and then can get email support is this correct?
5 – Is the support only through email? I can’t find a support line number.
6 – Once We have the business plan are more editing tools available? I want to be able to adjust the width of text boxes/ photos etc so they align?

  • 1. If your plan downgrades, you will lose all of the additional features provided by that plan.

    2. Yes, there is no limit to how many users can have access to the site.

    3. No, the website cannot be worked on locally, but we do provide our own staging system.

Visiting https://wordpress.com/help/contact will always connect you with the highest available support option for your plan.

We do not offer phone support.

    Hi macmanx,

Thanks for your response, I have one follow up question regarding if we downgrade our plan,

The website we are looking to build is essentially a portfolio and passive (we do not advertise or sell through it) and our manager wants to make it ourselves as we haven’t found any template he is completely happy with. We only update it 1 to 2 times a year at most.

Once we have customized it, if we have used plugins to create a new template and are then downgraded later can we still change the content/ edit the content via the content management system on the lower plan.

And the other question, if we were to have someone else create the website and they, were to go out of business/ downgrade at a later date what would happen to the website? would we be required to purchase the relevant plan to edit it?

  • Hi there!

If you’re looking for plan Business, the idea is to keep that plan for as long as you want to keep your site live.
To be able to install plugins or custom themes, Business sites undergo a series of structural changes. When the plan is canceled or expires, the site will not work correctly and needs to be reverted to the previous state. That means all plugins, third-party themes, and any content associated with them will be removed. Of course, we would help you back your content up before reverting, but all the customizations that are not possible on lower plans would be lost.

And the other question, if we were to have someone else create the website and they, were to go out of business/ downgrade at a later date what would happen to the website? would we be required to purchase the relevant plan to edit it?

I’m not sure if I understood this correctly. Are you worried about permissions? It will all depend on how you set the site up, whose billing details are on the account, etc.
If you need someone to help you with building your site, we can recommend Codeable.
