Editing Appearance of WordPress.com Blog

    Hi,

I was looking to edit the appearance of a word press blog i set up for a friend of mine.

It is pretty simple when you have wordpress installed on a separate domain name, as there is a EDITOR Option under Appearance.

However, under appearance for her blog, there is no option for this.

So… How can I gain access to the functions.php file, to edit this, if I cannot access the Appearance > Editor option?

I read somewhere that Blogs also do not accept FTP transfer.

The reason I want to do this, is to so I can add home-page link as a Custom Link to the menu, so that people can flick back to this home page to read general news she has posted.

Any insight / help much appreciated.

    Many thanks

Hi. You should familiarize yourself with the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
This means that at WordPress.com, there is no “Appearance > Editor” option, no way to edit the PHP files and no FTP transfer.

This being said, you can probably find a suitable workaround to what you want to do with the custom menu feature:
