editing categories

  I am trying to edit one of my categories by changing the name of that category because I want a ‘Memoir’ section.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there!

  You can manage your categories via WP Admin dashboard, instructions for it are here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/view-all/#managing-categories-in-wp-admin

  You can get to this dashboard by adding /wp-admin to the end of your site’s url, just like that: https://sunshinetomorrowblog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

  I already have two categories with the same name. I am trying to edit one of them and rename it as “Memoirs” category – but I keep messing up every single time. Can someone help me with this please?

  Hi there!

  You can rename category using “Quick edit” or “Edit”. Detailed instructions for it are here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/view-all/#managing-categories-in-wp-admin

  Remember to click “Update category” so the changes you made will be saved.

  Just to be sure I followed the instructions I’ve linked above on my personal site and I had no issues.
  Can you please tell me what you mean by saying you are messing this up?

  What I mean is that I accidentally created the “autobiography” category twice and now I’ve got two copies of that same category. I’ve been trying to delete one copy and start again, but I don’t know how to. I’m not really sure how else to explain.

I would love to help you further but without knowing the specific error you encounter or which step is giving you trouble my hands are tied and the best thing I can do is just keep sending you that link ;-)

  If you prefer someone from Staff to assist you further just add modlook tag to this thread – no hard feeling ;-)

  The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

  * You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.

  If the log-in information is lost you need to visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

  1. To edit or delete a category assigned to a post (whether it’s a draft or has already been published), go to Dashboard → Posts → All Posts in your dashboard, hover over the title and click the Edit link. To delete the post click the Trash link.

  2. To edit/delete categories in your dashboard go to Dashboard → Posts → Categories
