Editing code in a wordpress blog.

Hello i am working on a clients site http://cirencommunications.com i need to add a search bar, or edit the search bar that is currently on the site. When I login to the wp-admin, and go to appearance, there is no edit option. I read that i can upload a plugin to do a custom html widget, but it says i need to upload the package via FTP, yet i dont know how to get ftp access, nor does the client. It looks to me like this site is cirencommunications.wordpress.com, and then they have cirencommunications.com mapped to it. How can i edit the source code or add a custom HTML form to this blog?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We cannot edit either themes or the underlying templates underlying wordpress.com blogs. This is a multi-user blogging platform. That means that in essence all blogs wearing the same theme are using the same template. We cannot access those files, only Staff can and every edit they make affects all blogs wearing the same theme.

We can purchase an annually renewable CSS editing upgrade but it will alow us only to alter appearance and not functionality as you suggest.

There is no FTP access to free hosted wordpress.com blogs and we cannot upload plugins into theme. There are also restricted codes with regard to the widgets you mentioned that will be stripped out by the software in order to preserve security.

Having read your request I have come to the conclusion that you want complete control over your theme and template. that’s not possible here. To achieve that you will have to hire a web host and then download a free software install for self hosting from http://wordpress.ORG

Please read this entry so you are crystal clear about the differences between wordpress.COM free hosted blogs and wordpress.ORG installs for self-hosting. > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
