Editing existing posts brings the beep-beep editor back again

With all of my blogs, I switched back to the classic post editor as soon as it was possible. It worked all right with both, writing and editing posts from my admin dashboard as well as editing already published posts from my frontpage clicking on the “edit” link. As of today (and with all of my blogs), the frontpage “edit” link started to take me to the fancy beep-beep editor without giving me the option to switch back to the classic mode. Do I have to reset something or what? I want to use the classic post editor only and with all editing options.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. Yes, this is the most recent change regarding the new editor. I’m guessing the browser cookie that set your preference for the classic editor expired, which is why you only saw it now. There’s no way anymore to set the preference now that link is gone. Now the only way to use the classic editor is via the WP-Admin dashboard. You can leave your feedback in the main thread on this topic, here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-reinstate-the-option-of-choice-to-use-the-old-publishing-format?replies=278

The simplest option now is to bookmark your WP-Admin dashboard and always create and edit new posts and pages via that. The link to your WP-Admin dashboard is here: http://eprakone.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

If you don’t mind “getting your hands dirty” a bit, another user has created a workaround in the form of a user script you can install in your browser that will force a redirect to the classic editor every time the new one tries to load, like if you click the New Post or Edit buttons in the admin bar or on your site. It works like a charm and is much simpler than it appears, and unlike the browser cookie it works for all your sites. See this link for instructions: http://wp.me/p3639L-Iu

Wow, I am afraid the shortcut instruction is too much for me, but thank you anyway, I bookmarked the instruction and shall try to find someone who will understand what the whole thing is about. :-)

I always write my posts from my admin bar and via the classic editor. Just the new editor seems not to respect the Publicize settings of my pages – but that is another thread I started today. :-)
