Editing Font Size and Table Format

Before I learned that it doesn’t work to cut and paste from MS Word, I made a couple of new posts. Now I want to edit the font size of the text and the messed up format of the tables I inserted from the MS Word document. What’s the best way to do that? I haven’t found any suggestions in the FAQs, and my own attempts to fix it don’t work.

Try making the updates in Word and then using the Paste from Word button. It might work, but it is not guaranteed since the html generated by Microsoft Word can conflict with html and css on already established web page designs.

If that doesn’t work, you could select the content of each table cell separately and change the font (sounds like a pain though).

Another alternative would be to use an html editor of some kind to modify the table html code. However, you still run the risk of having the formatting change in that case, but you would have a better chance for compatibility compared to Word.

P.S. Make a backup of the post revision from before you made the first change in case you need to go back to it after making lots of changes.

Thanks for the helpful links for the beginner. The “paste from Word” button was hard to find (who knew what “kitchen sink” meant?). I was able to paste my table from Word, which looked OK on the clipboard, but when I inserted it, the font style and size changed to something totally different from the other fonts on the blog.

I was more concerned about the “grid” of the table having consistent and unbroken lines than the text font, but it is frustrating not being able to get it to look like I want.

If I can’t find a suitable fix, I might consider deleting the offending posts and re-posting the content using Window’s Live Writer.
