Editing footer in Bitacora theme
-
I’ve set up my new WordPress site using the lovely Bitacora theme and cannot for the life of me work out how to edit the footer (specifically I want to remove the “Follow Me” section).
Following the instructions on https://wordpress.com/support/edit-the-footer/ I have gone into Appearance > Editor. At this point the instructions say I can scroll down to the Footer and click to begin editing – but the footer doesn’t appear on this page at all:

So instead I follow the alternative instruction to click on Library, then click on “Footers”. This shows me the exact bit of my site that I want to edit (hooray):

However clicking into this just shows me the following – its completely featureless!

I can add content here (I experimented with adding an image, and it shows up in the footer, just above the standard copyright / WordPress line) but it doesn’t allow me to edit the actual existing content.
What am I doing wrong? There must be a way to edit this information but I can’t work out what it is!
Thanks very much in advance!

Having this same issue right now! Hoping someone finds this thread who knows what’s going on

Never worked out what I was doing wrong, but I switched to another theme (Lovecraft, also free). This one shows Widgets under the Appearance menu (which wasn’t there for Bitacora), and there you can edit the footer and header.
So my advice is to try a different theme. Shame since I really liked Bitacora!

Hi @zekiel79 and @lmatsumoto12 I believe you were both experiencing a recent bug with the Library and template parts – it’s been causing us a bit of a headache the last few days, but we have a temporary fix which should be working now; and ideally a permanent fix should be coming soon too.
If you’d like to give Bitácora a go again, it should let you edit the footer now, but if you do still have trouble with it let us know.
