Editing Forum Replies

Is there any way to edit replies that were posted to forum topics?
I just posted something a few minutes ago and used back-ticks in error, not realizing that using that particular code shows up as a blockquote code.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, there isn’t. Used to be you could, but too many people were using it for the wrong purpose so Staff decided to do away with it.
Would be great if there was at least a “preview” function.

Actually, using backticks is designed to allow code to be posted here in the forums without being interpreted. I can see where it can be confusing since it looks like a blockquote.
Blockquotes require the blockquote tags.

I just sent a suggestion in to staff to see if perhaps they would not use a different background color for blockquotes and code snippets between backticks. Typically it isn’t a big deal and no one has brought it up before, but still it might be a good idea.

{palm:forehead} No Jennifer I did not.
I just sent in another one on that subject though.

How were people mis-using the “EDIT” function?
It seems like a person should be able to EDIT THEIR OWN feedback on forums.
-
They were using it to delete things they’d been called out on, like abusiveness and libel, and then saying “I never said that!”
Honestly, until you’ve dealt with Club Penguin, you don’t know internet drama.

I see. In one OPEN forum discussion board (on conspiracy) and another one (on gifting), both sites allowed posters to edit their replies. And yes a preview function would help greatly! Perhaps, more moderators (staff and/or volunteers) would help remove offensive relies to forum topics.

I heard back from staff on the preview function and Andy said he had noted it for discussion and possible implementation in a future upgrade to the forums.
On the blockquote and code using the backticks looking very similar, Naoko suggested trying the code tags instead. I was waiting for a chance to test it in a real thread, but I’ll do it here now. The following is using the standard HTML “code” tags.
#pagenav {
float:left;
max-width:740px;

Well, that was a bust.
I just conveyed the results to staff, so we’ll see what they have to say on the code posting issue.
