  • Hi there. What edits exactly are you trying to make?

You should know that the editor in the Media Library is not very good. It can also eat through your storage space, as each time you edit an image it also still saves the original image in case you later want to reverse your changes.

Rather edit and resize image offline first. Picasa works well for basic lighting fixes and cropping, while free tools like Pixlr and Picmonkey works for more detailed editing.

Hi and thanks for getting back to me.

Right now I try to turn them 90 degrees left or right, because the edit library sometimes have them lying down in a wrong a way. It seems like it always uploads the image “landscape”.
And I can’t crop them for my header image either.

  • I’ve read somewhere that the WP editor checks the original orientation of the image and auto-rotates it so it is the “right side up”. The problem is, if you’ve rotated the image on your computer, the WP editor can’t see that, so it still rotates the image.

What you need to do is rotate the image in a program like Picasa and then EXPORT the image so a brand new file is created. Then the WP editor shouldn’t try to rotate it as well.

As for cropping the header image, I suggest you do that before you upload the image. Go to the Customizer and click on Header. It should show you the preferred dimensions for a header image for your theme. Crop/resize according to those dimensions before uploading it. Then you shouldn’t need to crop it for it to work as your header. If it still doesn’t display the image correctly, it might be a bug with your theme, so let us know if that happens.
