editing Likes

I read a couple previous unresolved threads on this topic. WordPress is a problem for me in that a pornographic user with a photo and website can “Like” my WordPress post, which is religious in nature. It is a mockery of my post. I don’t Like their Like.

If I can’t edit Likes, I can take the post down, and repost it later and hope for the best. Unhandy.
I can put up with it and go against my conscience by helping spread porn links on my blog Reader. I won’t do that.
I can take off”Likes” from my website pages. Did that.
But the reader still shows them. I don’t like that.

Can you please help us? Will you start defending the writer’s rights to control web links on their own post?
Or should I go to another platform?

    thank you.

  • Hi there,

Can you give us the username of this user? You can also report their profile directly on Gravatar.com if you prefer.

You have complete control over which types of user avatars are allowed on your site, through the Gravatar ratings setting under Settings ->Discussion. And if the image the user in question is using isn’t rated appropriately, we can update that.

However, there’s no way to prevent a specific person from visiting, following or liking posts on a public website.

Regarding likes in the Reader, I understand why you don’t want the likes to appear their either. But the Reader treats all sites and posts the same, and there’s no setting to customize the Reader display per-site.

But the Reader also only shows G-rated gravatars, so if the person’s profile picture is rated appropriately, it also won’t be visible in the Reader.
