Editing MX records
-
I am trying to set up Network Solutions email on my domain while editing my main website using wordpress. I followed the instructions that Network Solutions gave me for editing the MX and CNAMEs. I also looked at the instructions here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-network-solutions-email/
The format for inputting MX records seems to have changed since this support page was written. Now I am prompted to enter “host” “handled by” and “priority.” I was given the “handled by” and “priority” from network solutions but do not know what to enter in the “host” box. I tried a few things but have not been able to receive emails. It has been 5 days.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey femapo, not sure if you still need a hand with this but I had the exact same issue as you.
I’m not sure why that interface is forcing us to add a hostname for the domain name – it does not even allow @ which is strange if you just need MX records for the second level domain.
However, when I went through https://wordpress.com/my-domains/ I was able to add the my MX records without problem (i.e: you can leave the hostname blank and simply enter the “handled by” and “priority” part.
From what I can tell, depending on your email service provider, you’ll need to use one of these specific WordPress.com ‘domain’ interfaces:
https://wordpress.com/my-domains/
or
https://wordpress.com/domains/
