Hi,
Does WordPress have a help desk where one can ask a private question about editing one’s site? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

re: getting started
Your detailed theme description page is at https://wordpress.com/themes/gateway/ and that’s where set up instructions for it are found. The live demo site is at https://gatewaydemo.wordpress.com/
You must be logged in under the username account that registered the site first. Make sure you are running an updated browser version found at http://browsehappy.com or upgrade, please.
The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.
If the log-in information is lost you need to visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Every theme has a detailed theme description page with set up instructions like this one https://wordpress.com/themes/twentysixteen/ and a live demo site like this one https://twentysixteendemo.wordpress.com/

Have you tried dragging an image straight from your desktop or computer’s image folder and drop it directly into your post’s editor?
If you prefer you can click on the Add Media button from the toolbar of your editor to upload an image to your post.

There is no phone support. See here for all the support options when you have wordpress.COM technical support issues see https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/
Those who have a paid upgrade for a wordpress.COM site can use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ where they will receive a choice of having staff answer your question publicly or privately.
The best WordPress.COM contact form to use now for Staff assistance is:

Live chat will be available there if we have Happiness Engineers available to chat. When they are not available using that link results in posting to this peer support forum. https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/re: direct email support
Also note, that you can email WordPress.COM Staff at:help@wordpress.comThat said, the quickest way to get an answer to your support question is to state what you do need help with clearly in a peer support forum thread like this one.
