Editing permalink for page crashes site?

    Hello.
Today I was adding a new page for my wordpress blog and thought that it would be nice if the that page was a direct link to my site’s RSS feed. So what I did was I made a new page, named it RSS and then (not knowing what I was doing obviously) tried to change the permalink for the that new page to the url for my rss feed (by adding ?feed=rss2 at the end of the normal site url). This resulted in major errors with the following kind of messages repeatedly appearing all over:

“Warning: preg_match(): Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 1 in /home/oloene/pffgcomic.com/wp-includes/rewrite.php on line 365”

If this message makes some sense to someone I can post the rest of it too.

Anyway my conclusion then was that the new page had somehow corrupted the site, so what I did to fix it was to delete that one page. But the messages appears more now than before to the point where I can’t even edit anything or log in (the log-in page itself has these messages too).

So yeah, can anyone help me? How do I fix this? Is there a way to undo it? Or do I have to resort to back ups? If so, as someone who just recently started a site and haven’t set up anything back-up related, is there something automatically backed up or will I have to do something drastic like uninstall/reinstall wordpress?

    Thanks

    Hi there,
This is the WordPress.COM support forum. You need to post to the WordPress.ORG support forum for help with your site because it is not hosted by WordPress.COM and we provide support only for blogs hosted by WordPress.COM.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
    Note: http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

I see. I actually posted this both here and to the wordpress.org forums since I’m kind of desperate, but I suppose I’ll stick to wordpress.org then.
    Thanks anyway.
