Editing permissions causing site to crash?
-
Hello all. I’m trying to edit the sidebar on our site http://www.leveragesocialmedia.com and we are experiencing a series of problems.
Through the forums, I learned that I should change the CHMOD permissions of the sidebar file to 666 in order to be able to edit it through the wordpress interface; however, when I did this earlier, it crashed the whole page! I had to change the permissions back to their defaults (755), in order to get the page up and running again.
Does anyone have any advice on how we can possible edit the sidebar in the wordpress interface without causing the thing to crash???
Currently the interface says “if this file were writable, you could edit it” and as I said, changing permissions through the FTP only caused the thing to crash. Any advice??
