Editing posts goes to new post editor and introduces extra code
-
I always use the classic text editor. I now find when I edit a post after publishing, I am taken to the new post editor by default.
When I click to go to the classic text editor, I find new code has been introduced.
For example:
I have a site ‘I Use This For Testing’ and another site ‘I Use This For Testing Too’. I have the same post in both sites. The name of the post is ‘Hello’
In the post there is a list of themes I have used, the name of the newest being at the top.
When I try a new theme, I add a name and the code that WordPress introduces behind each line is

I just went in and took out each instance of the
(because the list was now much longer with large spaces) so you won’t see that, but the ordered-list coding is there. My preference is for an ability to set the classic text editor once and have it apply to writing posts and editing.
I have several self-hosted WP sites – and I would like to register that I hope that the new coding introduced in WP.com will not be extended to WP.org.

On the Settings->Writing page, have you selected “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML?

It occurred to me that the issue might be theme specific.
I thought I would give others a chance to see the ‘before’ code on
http://iusethisfortesting.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/hello/
which is why I haven’t gone into it to edit the post yet.
