Editing resetting itself after I update. Help?!
-
Hi, I have searched for the last 3 hrs for an answer to my problem and I am beyond frustrated!
When I edit my pages/posts I am unable to make *any*(extra) lines when i hit enter. It seems like the ENTER button is ‘locked’. I tried SHIFT+ENTER and although that works in the editing (I work in Visual), once i update it seems to reset whatever progress I have made and it takes me back to square one.Every time I need to add a new link or info on the pages/posts, I have to re format everything I have entered to bring it back to scratch before I update it.
I have been using WP for almost 6 months now, this is a recent second blog I have added to my account, and I have never ever had this problem before.
I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong! I never worked in HTML previously and it frustrates me. Why don’t I have this problem in my other blog?
It makes editing so hard! Did I miss something?

You will get double spacing between paragraphs in every theme here of which I’m aware. To get single spacing hold the SHIFT key down when you click ENTER at the end of the paragraph.
1. To get standard line spacing on paragraphs (blank line between paragraphs) select all the text in the post, click on the “format” pulldown at the left end of the lower row of icons and select paragraph.
2. If you want a standard paragraph break, at the end of a paragraph, press return/enter.
3. If you want no blank line, hold down shift and then press return/enter.

SHIFT + ENTER and the Format pulldown work. What doesn’t work is the saving process. I can update it and it will look like it should as it is in Visual, however right after it updates, once the editing page loads again, all the formatting is gone.

Perhaps you have a browser issue or another issue. Please try some troubleshooting. How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.
Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies
Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.
http://browsehappy.com/Do you have third party cookies enabled? Do you have another browser you can try?
You can use this link to see if your Flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of Flash. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Sometimes operating system and/or security system updates can cause problems so check for known issues. When you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.
If none of those clear up your issue you will have to contact Staff. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

That’s such good news. Please remember that troubleshooting technique and use it any time anything goes wonky or won’t work. Happy blogging! :)
