editing side unaccessible

hi in ref to the website i do updates for:

there was an issue in the photo contest plugin, when i click vote on a photo, it hangs.. (circle spins forever)
so i click edit to investigate and wordpress throws a ‘http error 500’ error.. I can’t access the editing side of things so can’t do anything.
it was working and the only thing i can recall changing since then was allowing the amount of votes (it was giving an option to allow one vote only or as many as you like.. not giving an option for 5 votes which it used to do).. but it was working both ways when i tried it.. help would be much appreciated please -

You use the self-hosted WordPress version(.org).
We’re only able to help with the websites hosted on WordPress.com.
Please either contact your web hosting customer support or submit your query to WordPress.org forums.
