Editing template content – Geologist slate
-
Hi,
I’m using the Geologist slate theme. The theme homepage contains some pre-made blocks and some text. I want to keep these blocks but replace the text, but I can’t seem to do this. Can anyone help me?
Many thanks,

Hey @midnightsun86, Could you clarify the exact block you want to edit in your homepage?
I believe that theme supports Full Site Editing. You can edit the blocks on your homepage by going to Dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor. I hope this helps.

Hi Stewart,
Are you speaking of https://mayosabandonedprotestantchurches.wordpress.com/? http://stewartkilleen.wordpress.com/ is using the Twenty Eleven theme, not Geologist.
The content you see on the front page of https://mayosabandonedprotestantchurches.wordpress.com/ are posts, one that you published two days ago, and one the demo post that all new sites are created with. You can delete that demo post from Posts ->All Posts in the dashboard.
If you’d prefer to have a static front page rather than having it display your posts, you can see here how to set that up in this theme:
https://wordpress.com/support/edit-your-homepage-using-the-site-editor/
You already have a draft page titled Home, so you can set that page as the front page in Settings ->Reading (you’ll need to publish it before that option will appear), and then assign it to the front page template once you’ve created it (as Geologist doesn’t include a front page template by default).
You can find a general overview of how the site editor works here:

We also host a live webinar (or you can watch a recording of a past webinar) that explains how to use the site editor, should you want to learn more :)
