editing the layout of the text and photos on UBUD pages

  • Unknown's avatar

    I am using the UBUD theme. How do I change the spacing of text so there is not as much blank white space between the title of the page and the description and photos? I would also prefer that the layout of the page does not require scrolling, so is there a way to create a template for a short/defined page? I would also like to align the width of my text caption at top of my page with the width of 4 photos in one row. Is this possible?

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

    You can use Custom CSS to make those sorts of customizations to your theme’s design. To add custom CSS, go to your My Blogs page and click the Customize link under the blog’s title. In the Customizer, open the CSS section and paste your CSS in the editor there.

    For example, you can use this CSS to reduce the space underneath the header in the Ubud theme:

    #masthead {
    padding-bottom: 20px;
    }

    You can adjust that number of pixels to get the amount of padding (space under the header) that you want.

    If you’re new to CSS, we also have tips for getting started here:

    And if you have CSS questions, most of our CSS support is done in the CSS Customization forum by expert staff and volunteers:

    I hope this helps! :)

    This is exactly what I needed. Worked beautifully!

    Can you also put me out of my misery by helping me with editing the font size used in the paragraph. I have tried several CSS codes and nothing seems to work so far. Would prefer that the paragraph font size is the same as the default tagline font size, and also a smaller font option.

    Thank you!
    Sincerely,
    Jeanne

    Hi Jeanne,

    One way to manage the fonts in your theme is with the Custom Fonts feature. You can choose fonts and font sizes by opening the Customizer and heading to the Fonts section there.

    If that doesn’t give you fine enough control over your theme’s fonts, I’d recommend posting for additional help in the CSS Customization forum:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

    Those folks are really good at pinpointing just what CSS you need to make various changes to your theme. :)
