Editing Theme/CSS, I’ll even pay someone to help me with this! (Freshy theme)
-
Hi there,
I’m currently running the Freshy theme and it looks like this: on my wordpress.com: http://tierzero.wordpress.com and like this on my own host: http://tierzerodivision.com/wp/
I want it to look like this: http://tierzerodivision.com/Please.jpg
(the is a quick mock-up I did in MS paint. Haha. Disregard the fact that I switched it around so that ‘Home’ is no longer the first option. I do not actually want that change made)If someone would give me the new code to make this happen and tell me exactly which portion of the existing code to replace – and on which .php file within the “Freshy” directory – I would *greatly* appreciate it. I would even pay you whatever you think is fair over paypal if you want? But of course, it would be awesome if someone who can do this effortlessly would just do it out of the kindess of their heart.
Either way, thanks in advance to anyone who helps me.
Here is a link to the freshy theme: http://themes.wordpress.net/?s=freshy

(email visible only to moderators and staff)Oh also, where do I go in the options section to get rid of those little arrows next to all my links on the right navigation bar? = (I believe they are rss icons? I do not want them..they show up on my own host but not on wordpress.com ..there must be 2 slightly different versions of the Freshy them?
someone on the forum identified that this bit of code might cause it..what can I change or remove from this (if it is, indeed, the problem) to fix it?
“div id=”sidebar”>
<div>
<?php if ( !function_exists(‘dynamic_sidebar’)
|| !dynamic_sidebar() ) : ?>
<?php if(function_exists(‘yy_menu’)) : ?>
<h2><?php _e(‘Index’,TEMPLATE_DOMAIN); ?></h2><?php yy_menu(‘sort_column=menu_order&title_li=’,
‘hide_empty=0&sort_column=name’.get_bloginfo(‘stylesheet_directory’).’/images/icons/feed-icon-10×10.gif’); ?><?php elseif (function_exists(‘freshy_menu’)) :
freshy_menu($freshy_options[‘args_pages’],$freshy_options[‘args_cats’]);
endif; ?>”any help MUCH appreciated!

I think you mean the wordpress.org forum because this is your first post here at wordpress.com. Also, we don’t have any access to our html and php files here.

If you are trying to edit the theme on your self-hosted blog, you should ask that question over at those support forums – http://wordpress.org/support/

Thanks for the quick replies!
Well I could also pay to edit the CSS on my wordpress.com, I don’t really mind. Basically I’m just looking for someone that knows CSS/PHP well and could help me with changing the appearance of Freshy. I posted on wordpress.org forums as well but have received no replies – in comparison, people on wordpress.com seem a lot more helpful.

The link to the image doesn’t seem to be working. Please note that the forums are for volunteer support only, not paid services.
You should also be aware that there isn’t any staff support for CSS customization here and there are precious few volunteers who know enough to help. Do you have the paid CSS upgrade?

hmm try it with www maybe? or try a different browser? http://www.tierzerodivision.com/Please.jpg
or maybe lower case http://www.tierzerodivision.com/please.jpg
sorry, I know this forum is for volunteer support I just thought if someone took the time to do this I could possibly compensate them for it.
thanks.

If you’re looking for help for a blog hosted elsewhere, you really need to be at WordPress.org.
-
i’m looking for help with wordpress in general, really. right now my blog hosted elsewhere is nothing but a side-project, any energy I put into promoting my blog directs traffic towards my wordpress.com blog. it just happens to be the case that my question applies to both my blogs, that’s all.
does it really bother people on here when someone is posting questions and has a secondary blog that isn’t hosted on wordpress.com? if so, I’m sorry, but either way I just want help customizing the Freshy theme.
-
It only bothers us when we tell them several times they need to be at the other site and they ignore us.
The way to customize Freshy is DIFFERENT depending on whether it’s a WP.com blog or an independent one. We cannot help you here.
-
I believe changing the CSS shouldn’t be a problem.
I would see what I can do for you, but right now I can’t. Maybe, in a week from now, I’ll be able to. If you can wait a week, and if you have the CSS upgrade, I can see what I can do for you, I don’t promise you anything, though.
If I can help you, you don’t have to pay me anything.
-
are you sure you can speak for everyone when you use a sentence like “it only bothers us?” i don’t think a lot of people get bothered over stuff as insignificant as this.
anyways, this was about finding someone that’s good with CSS, and this is a CSS customization forum. “we can not help you here” is not something you can say with any certainty. there’s obviously more than a slight chance that someone on here can actually code.
anyways it’s funny you wrote this – i guess was expecting it – because I was just coming back here to say never mind and request that the mods close this thread. this quote by rosclarke definitely rings true: “there are precious few volunteers who know enough to help.”
thanks anyway.

tier0, just so you know, people asking for help with WP.org blogs at these forums is probably the single biggest timewaster for the volunteers here. As raincoaster said, they work differently and we can’t help with that. So, yes, it does get irritating.
I appreciate that you also have a WP.com blog but from your initial post it appeared that it was the WP.org blog you were working with because of the code that you posted.
