Editing website

Customizing my website seems difficult. I am at wordpress.com. There are no obvious toolbars. Doesn’t seem possible to change just the subheading to be more readable. Prefer a website/blog combination. Should this be at wordpress.org? There is no help menu. I would like to add columns, text boxes, photos, links, etc. Thanks for any help or suggestions. I have previously used Weebly Mark

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, I am a newbie aswell. I just started editing my wordpress blog from the “default” design to my own (well I downloaded a free theme from this website). I just spent a few hours messing around with it and can add things here and there. So probably best to find a theme you like the look of, whether it be free or purchased, and just mess around a little and see where it gets you.

Adding pages allows for tabs at the top, adding posts, and then attaching them to the pages, allows for the tab to have menus underneath. I am not sure if one can do this so confirmation would be great, but I dont think you can move coloums and text boxes from the themed website you download, unless you create your own using html?

Hope this helps a little in getting started! :)
