Editing who receives update emails from my blog

I am a teacher and my blog is used solely during the school year to update parents on things going on in class. With a new school year upon us, I was trying to edit my followers to get parents from last year off of my email list rather than tell all of them to unsubscribe on their own.

Is this something that I can do as an admin anywhere?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there. I’m afraid there’s no way for you to do this as we have no control whatsoever over email subscriptions to our own sites. Email subscriptions are entirely in the hands of readers, so those parents will need to unsubscribe themselves. Staff will also not unsubscribe them for you.

I suggest you publish a post explaining that this is how WordPress.com works, and provide them with this link to the unsubscribe page: https://subscribe.wordpress.com/

Note this link is only for people who don’t have their own WordPress.com accounts. For parents who have WordPress.com accounts, they can unsubscribe via the Blogs I Follow section in the Reader: https://en.support.wordpress.com/following/#how-to-unfollow-a-blog-if-youre-a-wordpress-com-user

  • By the way, the same applies to regular followers. There is absolutely no way to remove them. They can only choose to unfollow themselves.
