Editing Widgets
-
Hi folks,
I am freaking out here, as what I am trying to do ‘should’ be real easy. I want to add a linked image to a text widget. I have followed the FAQ’s and watched the videos re: uploading media/put an image in your sidebar. However when I copy and paste the URL into the text widget box it either, 1. disappears or 2. instead of the image showing it has the text URL. I’m not sure why this is happening but any help would be appreciated. For info: I am using Apple Mac 10.5.2 and Safari.

Here are a couple of threads I found that might help:

Thanks for the reply, read through replies and no help at all. No one has come up with a definitive answer. I have tried using Firefox but get the same problem and also IE. However IE on the Mac stopped at IE5.5 so I only normally use that when I test websites – nothing else. Anyway still the same problem when using Firefox and IE.
I can’t believe something so simple is causing so much problems? I thought this would be a walk in the park. It’s simple enough to create and publish a new post, why is it so difficult to simply create a widget and place an image with a link in there?
This is what I am trying to achieve (see Le Grove affiliates):
http://le-grove.co.uk/2008/05/01/houston-we-have-a-problem-flamini-and-hleb-clear-lockers/They seem to have managed it – more than once.
Also why isn’t there a video tutorial showing how to create / upload an image direct to the widgets? Rather than just the how to upload an image for a post?
I am liking this site but some things which should take minutes to do are taking an age, well that’s if you can do them at all.
I look forward to and welcome any comments/suggestions!! Please!!
I really could do with some help on this.
Many thanks once again

It takes more than just pasting the URL into a text widget. It has to have the surrounding HTML for it to work. This is the code for an image that operates as a link.
<a href="pagelinkhere"><img src="imagelinkhere" alt="" title="" /> </a> -
You are an absolute star!! Not only is my graphic now showing, but the link (which I was going to tackle next) is working.
Many many thanks!!
