Editor anomaly
-
Why does my editor routinely change to a long blank space, with all of the content way down at the bottom? This only happens when the editor opens with the “upgrade security” option at the top. If I refresh the page, it comes back normally, but it is VERY annoying to go through the extra steps so often. And, yes, I have cleared my cache, as well as all of your other standard replies.

Hi Rod, I can imagine that this would be an irritation.
Is it the page editor itself that is blank, and forces you to scroll down? Or is it the content within the page editor?
In what instances are you seeing an “upgrade security” option? Is the message appearing in your WordPress.com window, as a popup, as a browser message?
If you could send me a screenshot of the Upgrade Security notification, as well as the way the “long blank space” looks in your browser, that would be a big help. You can simply upload the screenshot to your Media Library, like any other image, and I’ll be able to access it from there.
The following link has some helpful tips for taking screenshots:
Finally, I’m curious if this happens to you on other browsers. I’d like you to try to edit/post from another browser such as Chrome or Firefox. Let me know if you encounter the same issue when you’re not using IE.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

You certainly like to make things difficult. Why would you send me a reply email with a “do not reply” address, that I cannot respond to? I know how to take screenshots, and how to attach them to an email, but you can find them, if you prefer, in my media library, titled untitled, and untitled1 . The anomaly has not occurred so far in the Chrome browser, but since it is completely random, I have no idea if it is specific to IE. The blank space is several the pages long, but I cannot tell, exactly, since when I page down, it automatically returns to the top as I near the bottom. If I grab the scroll bar, and move it to the very bottom, I am able to scroll back up far enough to see, and use, the save draft button, but if I try to scroll back to the top of the text, it once again returns to the top of the blank area.

Hi Rod,
Thanks much for uploading those images to your Media Library. Very helpful.
Thank you for testing Chrome. It is indeed possible that this issue unique to IE. Internet Explorer’s support page offers the following advice:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11Please adjust your Compatibility View settings, clear your cache, and then re-view your page editor. Let us know if that makes any difference when it comes to your editor anomaly.
In the meantime, I do suggest using Chrome or Firefox. Most of our users prefer those two browsers as their favorites while working on their WordPress.com sites.
Thanks much!

I am not going to use Chrome to so much as view my blog. Since testing my editor there, the formatting on the current edit has become completely screwed up. It keeps pushing certain images together, and shoving the text between them off to the side, usually not even beside the image that they were originally typed above. It has also started to place huge gaps randomly in between the items I have uploaded. This is incredibly more frustrating than the initial problem ever was, especially since that problem has not been solved. I guess it is just time to look for a different blog host. This one is just far too buggy, and no one in tech support has ever been able to solve any issues I have had. Thanks for nothing. .

Rod, If you’re too frustrated, I understand. But if you’d like me to continue troubleshooting your issue, I’m happy to do that. Just let me know. Thank you.

How interesting. I just discovered that the “upgrade security” option is geared specifically toward mobile bloggers. Since I have never so much as viewed my blog via my phone, I don’t even know why I am even being given this option. At least there could have been a choice to opt out of these notifications given. Who runs a blog from the tiny screen on their phone, anyway??????????????

Would you believe that we have a huge number of bloggers who only work from their mobile devices?! They never even touch their computers. Their eyes must be younger than mine :)
