Editor auto-inserting <p> tag?

  • Unknown's avatar

The text/html editor for the page widget seems to be auto-inserting the <p> tag on my Pages. Strangely, the first section of information was normal, but every other one following was spaced as if it had <p>. When I click the HTML tab, I see the <p> tag for a second, but then it disappears. All the other HTML remains intact.

I fixed the problem by putting </p> before each section after the first one, but I never put <p> to begin with, AND it was disappearing on me. Is this supposed to happen or is the page widget cursed by voodoo?

The standard spacing for posts and pages uses “p” tags (with the blank line between paragraphs. If you do not want the blank line between paragraphs, then use shift-enter/return which will insert a “br” instead of a “p”.

Yeah I do that when I use the visual editor. In HTML mode I used regular spaces as opposed to break rules so I guess switching back and forth kinda messed it up.

    thanks

You mention the page “widget”. Are you taking about the page editor or something to do with the sidebar widgets?

Yeah, switching back and forth seems to produce some issues with br tags sometimes.

Ah, dammit it’s giving me problems again! All I did was go back to remove a typo, one damn letter, but because I did it through the visual editor, the whole thing F’d itself over.

    Here’s what I mean:

Excluding the first character’s section (like I mentioned above), every other characters list, their first section of weapons is spaced with <p>, but the second is not. There’s no DAMN P’s in my HTML so it should not be auto inserted this is bull! I can’t seem to FIX IT this time either.

Okay I fixed it. I still need to put </p>, I just had it before the <hr> as opposed to after. Still… doing this is very medieval…
