Editor Does Not Work

Stupid ‘Block Editor’ doesn’t work with my post. I have a post, the latest in my postings called ‘United in Christ’ that gets truncated when I try to open it in the ‘Block Editor’. That editor is junk. How do I get the classic editor back? Things have changed in the past month or so, and I no longer have a set of options under my postings on the list, I now have a popup menu that does NOT have the classic editor.

    Hi there,

You can still access the classic editor on a wordpress.com site by clicking your profile icon in the top right of your screen and going to “account settings”. From there look for the switch for “dashboard options” and turn it on. Now when you go back to edit your pages you will see a Classic Editor option beneath the page title. Check out the article below for a step by step walkthrough with screen shots

    Hope this helps!

    Awesome!

Thank you. I guess I’m just “Old school”. I don’t trust anything that is “Visual”, rather I like to have full control over the HTML, and check it with previewer. I’m checking for that switch on my account settings page, don’t seem to have it. I’m a “Free” user, not paid. Perhaps I’m too cheap?

You shouldn’t need to upgrade to a paid account to use the classic editor. Check out the screenshot at this link and see if it helps

If not, you can also do a sort of hybrid approach and add Classic Blocks in using the block editor as out lined in this article

    https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/

This allows you to write your own HTML in sections, but still take advantage of some other block types in situations they may be useful.
