    Hi @misterpearse

Sorry to hear the editor is blocking you, let’s get this sorted!

The “The editor has encountered an error” message with the Copy Error option is the block editor crashing, usually triggered by a specific block with corrupted or invalid content. Here’s what to do step by step:

    1. First — save your content before anything else Click “Copy Post Text” from the error screen if you haven’t already. Paste it somewhere safe (Notepad, Google Docs) so you don’t lose your work.

    2. Click “Copy Error” and paste it here This is the most useful thing you can do right now. The error text contains the exact technical cause — once we can see it, we can pinpoint exactly what’s broken. Just click Copy Error, then paste the text in a reply to this thread.

    3. Try these quick fixes while you wait

    • Hard refresh the pageCtrl + Shift + R (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac) — clears browser cache that may be causing the crash
    • Try a different browser — if you’re on Chrome, try Firefox or Edge. Browser extensions can sometimes interfere with the editor
    • Open the page in a private/incognito window — this rules out browser extension conflicts instantly

    4. If a specific block is causing the crash Block errors appear when a block’s content has a formatting problem — you can fix it by opening the published page in a new tab, copying the content you want to keep, returning to the editor, deleting the problematic block, adding a new block of the same type, and pasting your content into it. The most important next step is pasting that Copy Error text here, that’ll tell us exactly what we’re dealing with.
