    @goldfeesh Could you explain what you mean by theme-specific features? We have the rest of the features on our list to look at in the future, but wanted to get some more information on that part to make sure we understand what’s missing.

    In the premium theme Outspoken (as well as a few others I’ve used), there is a box with theme specific options that is not in the new editor or in the previous iteration. This is the box I’m talking about, a box you can only see in the classic dashboard editor:

    @kriskarkoski I don’t want the classic editor. I loved the intermediate editor for its streamlined functionality on the ipad. This new one has lost the streamlining and about 50% of the functionality of the intermediate editor. I’d get shot at work if I rolled out software like that.

    It’s horrible! Suddenly my posts aren’t showing up in my Reader. I liked seeing the way it looked among the other posts. I hate the way I have to search for the URL to link to my post; the old menu drop down was much better. I liked the way I used to be able to drag highlighted text to a new position on the post. Can’t do that any more either! Boo! Maybe this is all fine and dandy for a photo blog but for a writer, it sucks! I reverted to using the classic editor and I think that’s why my stuff isn’t showing up in the Reader. I can’t tell you how much I hate it! The ONLY nice feature is the auto save. The rest of it stinks! Please, please, please fix it!!!

  • @goldfeesh Thank you for the screenshot and theme name, that helps a lot and I will make sure it’s on our list

  • @lizzysiddal Sorry for the confusion, the only editors we have now are the new editor and the classic editor in WP Admin.

  • @drmegsorick Could you provide a link to a post not appearing in the Reader so we can take a closer look?

    Linking to existing content will be addressed soon, and I will test the text highlighting and dragging. May I ask what browser and operating system you’re using in case that issue is specific to certain combinations of those? Thanks!

    Is there no longer spell check?
    SHARING: previously if my posts were shared via Facebook or Twitter , there was a count of how many times that is now gone?

  • Unknown's avatar

    OMG so the previous editor is no longer available, we have to go back two versions? This is just a fail. Not happy.

    I have been using the editor for a mammoth project of Pages , 2 years into the project I’m frustrated that you choose to change the editor. Things I’m missing;

    1. to protect individual pages (was able to do this before editor changes.
    2. spell/grammar check in editor

    Can you please help

  • Unknown's avatar

    @kriskarkoski Well, if ever I’m asked to demonstrate the opposite of continuous improvement, this upgrade will be the object lesson.

    i have now found a the symbol on published page that allows for change of visibility of a page but this isnt the same as having password access to a page. A fundamental principal of my pages is they are only available by password access. Can you please tell me if this feature has been discontinued as I will have to go to another platform. Screaming!

    Not a huge fan of the new editor. I’ll get used to it; however, what really upset me is that I cannot link back to previous posts. I have to go find my post, click on view, and copy/paste the link. Will that be restored? I tend to link back a lot, especially with my “Month in Review” posts. I have seen a few people ask, but I haven’t seen a response. Thanks.

    @designsimply
    Thanks very much for your time.

    @guaromekano, (…) Would you mind replying back here with an example flickr link that you use? I would like to see if you are using one that ends in .jpg or not and I would like to do some further testing based on what you wrote.

    About that actually I made a tutorial with images about my way to upload here: https://guaromekano.wordpress.com/2015/06/20/how-to-post-your-flickr-photographs-on-wordpress/ of course I know there is the other suggested method (here https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/flickr-photos/) but with my method I have more control about the size and the caption, I needed, from my Flickr account. I can live making more steps to publish my photographs but my doubt is if that every photograph I share by URL is going to fill my storage. With the previous system there wasn’t a noticeable change in my storage so with more than 500 posts I had just more or less 20 megabytes of WordPress memory used, after the only post of yesterday with several photos (I post a daily photograph and weekly a longer article) it added 5 megapixels more.
    I post daily but I understand I’m using a free service, so I’m not asking that the system change to fit me, just to know if with the new system to upload photographs is unavoidable the use of the allowed storage space. Thanks in advance.

    In an obvious (and belated) attempt to appeal to mobile users, WordPress.com has ruined its best resource — the intuitive, easy to use back end interface.

    I’ve taught WordPress.com to thousands of users over the last five years. And if my students’ comments about the new interface are any indication, WordPress is about to lose a huge amount of market share to Blogger.

    I know you’re dead set on switching over users; but before you alienate millions of loyal WordPressers, here’s a suggestion:

    Create two entirely separate platforms for the classic back end and the new mobile version. This will give present and future users a clear choice. You could call even the new interface WordPress.mo.

    But please give us back our classic version. I’m aware of how to access it, but you’ve made it much too difficult for most people to reach the WP Admin screens.

    I hope you’ll give serious thought to splitting the platform!

    Hi there, I’m getting really nervous now… is the spellcheck really gone in the new version? I can’t seem to find it – it would be a disaster not to have it anymore… 8-o Can anyone help me with this please? Thank you :) !!!

    Bloody awful. Barely works at all with my iPad. Impossible to put in long titles, keeps jumping all over the place. Picture adding screwed up.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Missed the movement of the password Protected to icon at top right of page so happy that I can still use pages as I was doing.

  • Unknown's avatar

    I really hate this new format. Can you bring the old one back?

    Here is another epic fail. I posted my weekly blog earlier today using the new editor and it dated it a week ago – so now the post is incorrectly ordered and doesn’t show up when someone types in my url. I am back using the old editor, but am extremely angry that this new editor not only wasted my time but messed up my blog.

    @kriskarkoski I’ve since reblogged it, but here is the original: http://drmegsorick.com/2015/11/18/three-more-days-three-more-quotes-1/
    My schedule is dependent on being able to write posts ahead of time, save them as drafts and post later on. If they are going to be buried deep in the feed as if they were published the day I originally wrote them, then that totally defeats the purpose of having a draft and save option, right?
